netEffects Technology

netEffects is a small web design firm based in Johor Bahru. It started out initially in Sungai Petani but later moved its operations down south while maintaining the old office as a branch. netEffects' main activity is of course, web development, while doing a bit of graphic design and webmastering on the side. In web development, netEffects has moved away from doing the old static web pages, concentrating heavily on creating sites based on the highly popular Joomla! Content Management System. This Open Source system is a real boon to designers, site administrators and end-users alike.

Suhaimi Othman

netEffects is solely owned and operated by me, Suhaimi Othman. I started my working life as a teller in a bank - in Penang, Sungai Petani, Subang Jaya and Kuala Lumpur - and worked my way up (and my ass off) to my last post as a Credit Officer when I decided that I have had enough counting other people's money. Had I stayed on, I'd probably be a pale, fat bank manager with gold-rimmed glasses by now. Yuck!

Out on the street, I tried sales - from detergents and perfumes to insurance and commodity futures - only to find out that it was a great way to make a buck but it wasn't for me. Later I moved on to magazine publishing and as an editor I had great time writing articles and collaborating with the creative team to produce the printed end products. Too bad the company had to cease operations.

Long story short; I came back to my hometown, four kids in tow and after a long period of soul searching and I went back to school. My younger classmates were actually surprised that I knew more about computers than they do. Kids! They haven't even heard of WordStar or Lotus 123! Even though I enrolled to read stuff like programming and software development, it is here that I found my true calling: Computer Graphics and Web Design!
